Disneyland Rides
If you’re a regular to Disneyland, you know which Disneyland
rides and attractions to visit first. Not a regular? That’s okay!
This page covers tips for navigating any Disneyland park while on your
dream Disney vacation. Check out this
list
of
Disneyland rides so you can start charting your course before
you go!
First things, first – arrive early!
Whether you’ve purchased your Disney park tickets ahead of time, have
passes, or are buying your tickets to Disneyland at the entrance, you
will get the most from your visit by arriving when the park opens. Find
Disneyland
park hours and Disney
World hours here to begin
planning ahead.
Before entering the park, check for ride closures. There’s usually a
sign notifying visitors
at the entrance. You can also call the park ahead of time to find out
what rides are open and which ones are closed. Pick up a Disneyland
ride map to check for new
Disneyland rides.
Some attractions are more frightening than others. Most
attractions have a
sign near the entrance that gives warnings and height requirements.
Did You Know?
The SKYWAY
was the first aerial tramway of its kind in the U.S. A very
popular attraction, it was discontinued in 1994.
Once you’ve arrived, it’s a good idea to
get in line for the
most popular rides. For example, the lines for the
Matterhorn, Autopia, Finding Nemo Submarines, and Splash Mountain rides
at the Disneyland Resort, California fill up quick-as-a-wink (fast,
fast, fast!) If you can visit these rides first, you’ll have a better
chance of shorter lines.
For select rides, you can pick up a
Disneyland Fastpass.
A Disneyland Fastpass allows you to reserve a spot on certain rides for
a set timeframe. Pick up a Fastpass, check the time of return on your
ticket, then visit other areas of the park while you wait. Then, return
to the ride during the timeframe printed on your ticket. Easy as pie!
Prepare to wait. Certain times of year are better
for a Disney park visit than others. Find out the best time to visit
your Disney park of choice by calling Guest relations for that park. No
matter what time of year you plan your visit, prepare to wait. But
cheer up! Disney even provides entertainment for guests waiting in
line! You’ll get to see videos, view scenes that tell a story, or view
fascinating pictures and decorations.
There are
height restrictions for some rides. Be
sure to know how tall your children are.
If you have a baby or toddler in your group, check out:
- Fantasyland. Here you’ll find rides like Peter Pan’s Flight
(one of the best rides, ever!), King Arthur’s Carousel, the Story Book
Land Boats, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant. There are many other rides
in this land your little ones are sure to enjoy.
- Check out the more mellow rides like the Monorail at
Disneyland California. Your little ones might also like to ride the
trolley or a horse-drawn carriage.
Parents can take turns riding! After waiting in
line, ask a Cast Member for a Rider Switch Pass. Once the first rider
gets off the ride, the other rider can get on without waiting. If
you’re not sure which line to wait in, ask the Cast Member stationed at
the ride’s line entrance.
Wheelchair access is usually the ride’s exit. For
some rides, the line is wheelchair accessible. Your map [LINK] will
have some information about wheelchair access for rides. If you’re
unsure about where to get in line, ask a Cast Member.
Need a quick getaway? Disneyland rides have
exits throughout the
line in case you need to leave before riding.
I'm in Line...Now What?
OK! You've picked up a FastPass or have joined a
stand-by line. How do you just stand around for up to 90
minutes?
Do your best to enjoy whatever wait time you do have.
Enjoy the scenery, pay attention to the story being told, and
search for hidden Mickeys. Check out game apps you can add to
your mobile phone (look for something with a Disney-type theme/feel.)
Bringing a small snack with you is a good idea. If you or a
member of your party is feeling hungry, an in-line snack will
help

make the time
until the next meal more pleasant. Some suggestions for
small, portable snacks are:
- String cheese
- Apples and Bananas
- Pickles
- Granola
- Favorite dry cereal in a plastic baggie
The
fruit stands throughout Disney theme parks are wonderful and have quite
a variety of fruits, pickles, snacks, and drinks.
And always, always, always
have water on hand. Check your surroundings for water
fountains if you need a refill! You can always head to one of
Disneyland's many resturants and request a cup of ice water, too.
