Whether you’re 5 or 85, there is plenty of fun to be had at Disneyland. Disneyland’s thrill rides thrill the young and not-so-young alike.

Below is a list of the best rides at Disneyland. These rides may have long wait times. Some are suitable for young visitors, others have height requirements that rule out little ones.

Autopia

One of the original attractions, Autopia has been updated for the new millennium! This ride is popular with all ages and the wait time can be quite long. Fastpass is available for this ride.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Located in Frontierland, this rip-roaring railroad thrill ride is sure to get your heart racing and have you back in line after riding. The line splits as you get closer to riding, so be sure to try both line because the ride is different depending on the line you pick! Fastpass is available for this ride.

The Disneyland Railroad

With stations at Main Street, New Orleans Square, Toontown, and Tomorrowland, you can take the train instead of walking across the park. “Travel back in time” and see sights visible only from the train.

Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage

The Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage is one of the most popular rides, so expect to wait. Visit Nemo, Dory, and your favorite shark, Bruce on an undersea voyage. There is no Fastpass for this ride.

The Haunted Mansion

Grim, grinning ghosts are out to socialize! Hop in a Doom Buggy and ponder joining the 999 ghosts of The Haunted Mansion. The Haunted Mansion Holiday opens up in late September and stays open through Christmas. The ride goes under renovation before opening to prepare for The Haunted Mansion Holiday and again after the New Year to take down the seasonal decorations. The ride is closed during these times, so plan accordingly. Fastpass is available September – December.

Indiana Jones Adventure

Search the Temple of the Forbidden Eye on the Indiana Jones Adventure. A pulse-pounding ride, flames of fury, and a heart-stopping snake make this a ride a must. Talk about intense! Fastpass is available for this ride.

King Arthur Carousel

Feel like a kid again on King Arthur’s Carousel. You may get to try your luck at pulling the sword from the stone with Merlin by your side! Check your Disneyland ride map for times Merlin visits.

Matterhorn Bobsleds

Race your way through Matterhorn Mountain! Avoid the Abominable Snowman as you whisk along the track. Fastpass is not available, so get there early or be prepared to wait.

Peter Pan’s Flight

You CAN fly! Sail a ship to Neverland and back with Peter Pan as your guide.

Pirate’s of the Caribbean

Yo, ho! Yo, ho! Live a pirate’s life. Travel your way through the waters as you witness the legendary pirates pillage and plunder. See what inspired the movie and experience new additions to this classic ride (like Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones.)

Space Mountain

One of Disneyland’s most famous rides has been revamped for the new millennium. Board your “spaceships” and get launched into space. Encounter a meteorite, swirling stars, spinning galaxies as you speed along. Visitors with heart problems and expectant mothers are discouraged from riding Space Mountain. Fastpass is available for this ride.

Splash Mountain

This high-speed log ride begins at the entrance. Be entertained by the story or Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and Brer Bear. You’ll shoot down waterfalls and see legendary Song of the South characters before climbing up for the final splashdown. Smile on the way down – you can get a photo after exiting. You will get wet! Fastpass is available for this ride.

Star Tours

Star Tours will soon be experienced in 3D. Travel to outer space on StarSpeeders. The technology of this ride has you feeling like you’ve left the atmosphere and are travelling the galaxy. Fastpass is not currently available for this ride.

Disneyland - Best Rides for Tiny Tots

If you have young children, Fantasyland is one land you must visit. Little ones can ride King Arthur's Carousel, visit Snow White, see the miniature fairy tale world on the Storybook Land Boats, and fly with Dumbo.

If you'll be visiting the California Adventure, visit A Bug's Land, the Clubhouse Disney set, and take a tour of Paradise Pier at twilight - even the littlest ones will enjoy the lights at night!

Disneyland - Best Rides for Relaxing

If you need a break, hop on the Disneyland Railroad or tour both Disneyland and the California Adventure on the Monorail.
