Here's a no-fluff crash course in saving money on your airfare:

Travel on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday.  Purchase your tickets for Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday travel.  Everyone wants to get away on the weekends, and many weekend visitors to the Disneyland Resort are Southern California locals with Disneyland annual passes. so another benefit to arriving mid-week is that crowd levels are lower, meaning shorter wait times.  Saving money and smaller crowds - what could be better?

Stay through the weekend and depart during the week.  The above information applies to departure, too!

Research all options.  That means pricing vacation packages through sites like Expedia.com and JetBlue, requesting a quote through a travel agent, and visiting the websites of individual airlines to get the best price possible.

Book travel about early.  The earlier you start researching airfares, the better. This ensures that when you book your flights and purchase tickets, you'll save both time and money.  Last minute bookings are chancy, but if a last minute getaway is what you want, booking last minute may score you some great discounts!  

Traveling off-season is another way to save big and get cheap flights to Disneyland.  The best times to visit Disneyland are mid-September, after Thanksgiving, early December, and in the spring (avoid holidays!)  Expect weekends, holidays, and summer to have the highest crowd levels.


Always ask about discounts.  Your credit card company may offer travel discounts.  Also, if you're over 65, are a student, are a member of AAA or are a member of the military, you may qualify for special discounts.

Book packages, either online or through your travel agent.  One note of caution: packages are not always the best option because unnecessary "extras" may cost you.  However, if you want the extras, you can save big.

Look for group rates if you are buying two or more tickets.  Really dig for deals if you're buying online, or ask your travel agent if you qualify for such a discount.

Include the cost of baggage fees.  Some airlines charge for any checked item, some allow one checked item at no cost, and Southwest Airlines does not charge for baggage that is under 50 pounds and is less than 62 inches square.  Overweight items will have a fee of $50 per item.
